Wilfrid Laurier University

Honours BMus in Community Music

RCPA graduates can enrol in Wilfrid Laurier’s Honours BMus in Community Music to complete their bachelor’s degree with an additional two years (10.0 credits) of full-time study. Applicants must earn admission to the programs through the normal audition procedures and be subject to the same terms and conditions as any other student.

In Community Music, students will gain experience and skills performing in many music genres and different settings, from formal concerts to participatory community events. A key feature of the program is an emphasis on music creation and working collaboratively. Students will graduate with extensive experience in creative songwriting, improvisation and student-driven performance. Instructors also teach leadership and musicianship skills that will enable students to facilitate participatory music-making.

Honours BMus in Self-Directed Studies

RCPA graduates can enrol in Wilfrid Laurier’s Honours BMus in Self-Directed Studies to complete their bachelor’s degree with an additional two years (10.0 credits) of full-time study. Applicants must earn admission to the programs through the normal audition procedures and be subject to the same terms and conditions as any other student.

The Self-Directed Studies program is designed to give students a well-rounded musical education with the freedom to choose electives in a variety of subjects, both in and outside of music. The Self-Directed Studies program balances weekly studio lessons, masterclasses and ensemble rehearsals. Courses are divided into thematic areas of Culture & Society, Performance and Production and Style & Structure.

 

Yorkville University

Bachelor’s of Creative Arts

RCPA graduates can enroll in the Bachelor of Creative Arts Degree program at Yorkville University to complete a full bachelor’s degree within 15 months*. The Bachelor of Creative Arts degree program equips you with the business and leadership skills required to succeed as a creative entrepreneur in senior leadership roles and project-based positions. Performers who wish to create their own work, will gain the skills to plan projects, get them funded and get them made. Surrounded by creatives from all different disciplines including directors, producers, VFX designers, musicians, editors, gaming developers and more.

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Understand the importance of ethical collaboration and personal accountability in the creative arts

  • Assess and understand intellectual property rights

  • Build, lead and manage effective creative teams

  • Budget and manage financial resources for creative projects

  • Develop critical thinking, communication and collaborative skill
