Summer Intensives (Grades 9-12)

In this ten-day intensive workshop, students will collaborate with industry professionals to conceive, write and perform in a one act musical to be presented on the last day of the intensive.  Our professional team will guide students in choosing a theme and plot, as well as writing scenes and songs.  With the help of the musical director, the students will learn about song structure and meaning, choosing the tone, style and melody of each piece.  Choreography design and character development will be explored to build meaningful movements unique to each character and piece.  Students themselves will generate specific characters and strengthen acting skills such as intentions, beats, tactics, wins and losses.  Voice and text work and a group warm up will be part of each rehearsal day.  In the creation lab, an emphasis is placed on team work, improvisation and exploration, and professional theatre etiquette. The performance will be filmed, and all students will receive a link to the recording.

Registration opens January 3, 2019.
