Five time Canadian Country Music Association Fiddle Player of the Year nominee (2016, 2015, 2014, 2012 & 2011) Ali Raney, is in high demand as a fiddle player and background vocalist. While completing her music performance degree in Toronto, Ali began gigging professionally in the music industry and over the last few years has had the pleasure of working with a variety of diverse and talented artists including:Terri Clark, Barbra Streisand, Ronnie Dunn (of Brooks & Dunn), Jason McCoy (of The Road Hammers) and Jess Moskaluke amongst others. A songwriter and band leader in her own right, Ali maintains a busy touring and performance schedule locally and abroad and also co-fronts her own band, the CCMA award winning country duo, The Lovelocks. Celebrated by RocketHub as "crowd funding pioneers in the world of country music in Canada", this business-savvy duo has raised over $65,000 dollars to date, funding the recording of both, their debut EP, and their second album Born to Love. Their recent single, “Home Sweet Home” has dazzled Canadian country music fans, becoming the #1 selling single by a Canadian country artist (week of January 25, 2016). Co-written by The Lovelocks (Ali Raney and Zoe Sparrow), Gavin Slate and Travis Wood, and produced by Grammy award winning producer Ben Glover, and JUNO award winning producer Mitch Merrett, “Home Sweet Home” also made it to #2 on the top 50 Canadian viral list on Spotify, gaining over 350,000 plays within the first few months of the release. Ali grew up in a musical family and was highly influenced by her mother, a music teacher and choir director, and her father, a music teacher and orchestra conductor. Ali received formal training in classical, jazz and fiddle styles from a young age, all the while singing in church and school choirs throughout her childhood. An accomplished vocalist, Ali went on to study Music Theatre Performance at the prestigious Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts and she holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance from York University. Ali has since picked up the acoustic guitar and mandolin, and plays them regularly alongside her fiddle. Ali is a member of the Canadian Federation of Musicians (CFM/AFM) and is a D'Addario Bowed artist. Ali holds an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance and has played everywhere from the Air Canada Centre, to the Grand Ole Opry; from the 2010 Vancouver Olympics to the Calgary Stampede, Boots & Hearts Music Festival, the Bluebird Café, the Ryman Auditorium and Big Valley Jamboree, to the smallest listening rooms and bars all over North America.
