Dance

The Randolph Kids Dance Division offers dance lessons for young dancers ages 3-18 in a variety of styles including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Break Dance and Acro. Our highly skilled professional and industry trained teaching staff deliver a high standard of technical dance training in a non-competitive environment with a focus on nurturing strong, healthy, confident and versatile dancers.

  • Creative Movement for Tiny Tots — This class encourages free expression, while teaching basic elements of dance, including movement quality, body awareness, rhythm and spatial awareness.
  • Combination Class (Jazz / Tap, Tap/Hip Hop) — Combo classes are a great way to introduce students to a variety of dance forms, allowing students to start making the connection between different dance disciplines.  Students spend half the class with each discipline, and perform a number in each discipline in the year end showcase.
  • Ballet (Cecchetti/RAD syllabus) — Ballet is the classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base for other dance forms.  Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout, and include barre work, centre work and combinations. Classes feature a live accompanist in the first term, creating a more professional atmosphere, culminating in a ballet day where students showcase their work in front of a professional panel, receiving valuable feedback.
  • Jazz — An exciting dance form full of rhythm, syncopation, passion and life, jazz is steeped in the rhythms of pop and R&B music.
  • Hip Hop — A high-energy class that uses the latest sounds in rap, R&B and pop music together with movements influenced by some of today’s hottest video choreographers.
  • Tap — Tap focuses on rhythms and intricate footwork to create a percussion instrument out of the dancer’s feet.
  • Contemporary — Falling between jazz and ballet, contemporary dance merges the technical elements of ballet with an instinctual “storytelling” element, encouraging dancers to emotionally connect with and express themselves through music and movement. Contemporary students must be enrolled in ballet.  (Ages 10+ only)
  • Acro — Acrobatics or "Acro" is a combination of dance and gymnastics in which dancers will learn how to properly develop acrobatic and gymnastics skills with an emphasis on strength and flexibility. Acro students must be enrolled in ballet or jazz. (Ages 7+ only)
  • Breakdance – Build confidence and strength in this free-style based 12 week class lead by an industry professional.  Learn different types of movement including top rock, down rock, power moves and freezes, popular tricks and spin, the history behind the style, and a short routine featuring the tricks and dance skills learned.  (Ages 7+ only)
