Why Study in Toronto?

Students from around the world have found a home away from home at Randolph College.

The College has welcomed students from Australia, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Iceland, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, New Zealand, Sweden, South Africa, South Korea, and Taiwan.

International students find Toronto to be a welcoming city; Toronto is often considered one of the most multicultural cities in the world (United Nations Development Program), while Canada is among the top ten friendliest countries in the world (Forbes) and the top ten countries with the best reputation in the world (Reputation Institute, 2018 Country Rep Track).

Additional Requirements

International students must meet the same audition requirements as domestic students, with one addition: applicants for whom English is a second language must provide adequate proof of English speaking and writing proficiency. Applicants whose first language is not English must make their own arrangements to write an accepted test of English proficiency and submit the results to the RCPA Admissions Director either by email or mail. Accepted tests of English proficiency are as follows:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.

Duolingo English Proficiency Test

The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $49. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample which are shared with RCPA when you send your results. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session. Randolph College for the Performing Arts requires a minimum score of 120 to be offered admittance into our program. For more information, or to take the test, click here.

Applicants who qualify to attend RCPA based on their application and audition, but have not submitted test results or met our English proficiency requirements may be awarded a conditional offer of admission to the college until adequate results are received. This condition may be met by submitting a satisfactory score on a test of English proficiency.

Once accepted, students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada are required to secure a study permit and/or a temporary resident visa before entering Canada to attend school, and to submit renewal papers as required two months before the permit expires. More information can be found on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.

Please note: International students attending any Private Career College in Ontario, including RCPA, are not eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP).

International Student Support

Once enrolled, international students may consult with the Student Services Director regarding a wide variety of resources and programs, including but not limited to:

  • Housing support

  • Health insurance

  • Academic and peer counselling support

  • Local cultural or religious community organizations

  • Social service supports in the community

  • Embassy or consulate contacts

  • RCPA will not, under any circumstance, retain or withhold a student’s passport or visa documentation.

At Randolph, I learned about hard work and overcoming challenge, and that has helped me grow stronger and more confident as a performer. I also learned about generosity, kindness, and the importance of the relationships we build.
